About Me

I’m Jake Gluba. I moved to the OBX in 2019, and discovered photography in April of 2024.  For me, photography started out as an interesting hobby, but it quickly turned into a sense of purpose and a meaningful source of creativity and exploration.  I enjoy the ability to see the outdoors through the camera lens and experiment with light and composition to capture and preserve moments in time. Under the tutelage of a well known OBX artist and photographer, my skills have developed into a distinctive artistic voice grounded in both visual storytelling and coastal inspiration, using osprey as my muse.

On June 1, 2024, my life changed forever when I was in a horrific car crash. The damage to my body was severe, and the doctors told me that I might not ever walk again.  After many weeks of hospitalization, I was finally able to return home and one of my first missions was to get outside and be a part of the world again.  I decided to not accept my new limitations, and I used photography to regain my physical mobility and preserve my mental health.

After almost a year of physical rehabilitation, I am walking again and continuing to develop my strength, mobility, and photography skills.  I am committed to learning more about wildlife and landscape photography, while sharing my experiences with others and giving back to protect our natural resources.
